Samantha Lantagne
Clinical Counsellor, c.o., M.A. Counselling Psychology
Bio
I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and a c.o. with the OCCOQ (Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d'orientation du Québec). My approach is informed by CBT, ACT, and systems theory, and the feel of our work together is collaborative (and fun, so I've heard!). I specialize in anxiety issues, sleep issues, relationship challenges, grief, and low self-esteem. I also work with clients dealing with chronic physical pain that is causing distress, anxiety, and reducing quality of life.Â
Â
I have experience working with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, from trauma and depression, to grief and relationship issues. I enjoy working with both younger and older adults, and come with 7 years of experience working with adults in a psychoeducational context.

Approach
My priority is to create a space where clients feel truly seen, and where they can walk away from a session feeling empowered. While I see the client as the expert in their own lives, my role is to help them examine their own thoughts and experiences with courage and increased self-trust. I believe in carefully supporting their growth and exploration through evidence-based interventions and best practice; a cognitive-behavioural framework helps me make sense of patterns of thought, feeling, and behaviour, but my approach is flexible and focused on understanding how my client perceives their experience.
In our initial sessions together, we’ll explore what factors and experiences are contributing to how you're feeling. This shared understanding will lay the foundation for learning new coping strategies, and eliminating unhelpful ones. While sometimes the first step in therapy is finding ways to ease and manage symptoms, I aim to support clients in moving past that stage, toward creating a life that feels less about managing and more about living.
